Continuing with the theme last week of leadership self-improvement goals in 2021, I offer this week’s topic:  5 Questions to Ask Yourself Before You React.  I have to thank my colleague and friend, Roxanne Joffe, a successful entrepreneur, executive coach and speaker, for suggesting that I write on this topic.  Thank you Roxanne!

In fact, this is a great topic because even though we are leaders, we are still emotional creatures.  Emotions can cause us to react in ways that do not strengthen our leadership.  Strong leaders keep their emotions in tact during times of uncertainty, stress and anxiety.

The following is a great “tool” to use to help you react in a thoughtful and appropriate manner:

Ask Yourself These 5 Questions Before You Must React

    1. What am I not seeing?
    2. What am I assuming?
    3. Am I judging?
    4. What am I missing?
    5. What matters most?

If you take the time to answer these questions before you react to a situation, you will be better positioned to focus on reacting in a manner which helps you achieve your objectives.
