2021 is almost here, so this is the perfect time to reflect on self-development opportunities for the purpose of strengthening your leadership. Like many of you, I listen to multiple podcasts, and I am always interested in learning what leaders listen to. (I know..I know..I should not have ended that sentence in a preposition.)
Here are my Top 10 podcasts, and I would welcome any recommendations from you. (These are not in any particular order.)
The $100 MBA Show – 10 minute daily lessons on running a business. Omar Zenhom is a born teacher (actually he was a teacher before starting and operating a number of businesses), and in ten minutes he gives very useful advice.
EntreLeadership – Designed for leaders who are the founders of their organizations, this podcast interviews those and other leaders and provides real advice on how to lead in real-time. This is under the Dave Ramsey family of companies, so there are many good examples.
Lead To Win – Practical leadership advice supported by an array of personal improvement tools and methodologies. Michael Hyatt and his daughter, Megan Hyatt Miller, discuss real examples of leadership challenges as they grow their company.
Entrepreneurs On Fire – John Lee Dumas is an effective interviewer of entrepreneurs with an emphasis on “what did you do” and “how did you do it”.
The Little Fish Podcast – Joel Eschenbach of Notion Design Group leads this podcast. The last season (Season 3) is a must listen to if you want to understand and improve your marketing. Previous seasons interviewed a variety of leaders and went deep with each. Very educational.
Real AF with Andy Frisella – Raw, real-life leadership lessons. He really “tells it like it is” when discussing what it takes to grow a business. His previous podcast, The MFCEO is more business-related. (Caution – he weaves a tapestry of cussing which is almost an art form.)
Soulcraft – A brand new podcast where Brian Ehrlich interviews “normal, everyday people” who have interesting stories. (The first interview with Steve Brennan is a must listen to.) This is easy listening and makes you feel normal and realize that everyone is just trying to make a difference in his/her family and community.
Storybrand (will be named “Business Made Simple” in 2021)- This has evolved from marketing/branding focus to “how to run a business” and “how to be a leader”. Donald Miller and JJ Peterson lead incredibly wise discussions about business and life.
48 Days To The Work You Love – Great, practical, wise advice from Dan Miller about life and work. This is a “feel good” podcast each Friday or Saturday for me because Dan is so optimistic.
At the Table with Patrick Lencioni – Yes, that Patrick Lencioni. He focuses his podcast on engaging your team members and offers very practical advice.
